What You Learn
The PADI Manta Awareness Distinctive Specialty course includes a 1/2 day presentation designed to introduce guests and staff to the Manta species common in our planet's seas & oceans. Not just for diver either, but designed and aimed at all!
The PADI Manta Awareness Distinctive Specialty course teaches divers and snorkelers about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. The course also familiarizes participants with the current state of the world's coral reefs and how they can help.
There are 2 dives involved in the course where divers are frequired to record manta sightings either photographically or on slates. Upon return to the dive centre and resort, these results are recorded and uploaded to the The Manta Global Database.

Courses are taught at least weekly by Mad Fish Dive Centre's on-site Marine Biologist and PADI Instructor, Kate Wawatai, at a time that suits the current guests in house.
As a prep for the course all guests are sent a link to the "AWARE Our World Our Water" manual which is the training manual for the course.

Prerequisites
There are no dives or age limits. Divers and non-divers alike enjoy learning about the aquatic environment.
Your Next Adventure
Since fish life and coral reefs go hand in hand, it also makes sense to learn about fish identification with the AWARE Fish ID course.
You may also want to brush up on your underwater photography skills so that you can document and capture images of the conditions of the reefs and species you’re encountering.
