What You Learn

The PADI Manta Awareness Distinctive Specialty course includes a 1/2 day presentation designed to introduce guests and staff to the Manta species common in our planet's seas & oceans. Not just for diver either, but designed and aimed at all!

The PADI Manta Awareness Distinctive Specialty course teaches divers and snorkelers about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. The course also familiarizes participants with the current state of the world's coral reefs and how they can help.

There are 2 dives involved in the course where divers are frequired to record manta sightings either photographically or on slates. Upon return to the dive centre and resort, these results are recorded and uploaded to the The Manta Global Database.

The PADI Manta Awareness Distinctive Specialty course training are:

  • To familiarise students with the role of Project AWARE in preserving the aquatic environment.
  • To introduce Manta species common in temperate or tropical waters.
  • To provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to identify Manta Rays
  • To record sightings in The Manta Global DatabaseTo inform students about the decline in Manta Ray populations, importance of Manta Rays to marine biodiversity and what they can do to reduce the loss of Manta Rays worldwide.

As a prep for the course all guests are sent a link to the "AWARE Our World Our Water" manual which is the training manual for the course.
